A Facebook first for British Canoeing!
As East of England Paddlesports has grown we have become a lot more visible both in the community and with British Canoeing the governing body of our sport. This has resulted in us today becoming their single largest, and first online group, to become formally affiliated.

This is a huge recognition for us as a group, and is underpinned by how we have encouraged safe and responsible grass roots paddling of all kinds. It is testament to you, our members, who have helped us grow and mature into what we do today and this has set a benchmark for other similar groups to follow especially around our Governance and Safety processes.
This massive step forward for the group means we now also have direct access to British Canoeing's fantastic resources and capabilities both online and at the end of a phone for guidance, coaching and advice for all things paddlesports. By being an affiliated club we now also have a voice through British Canoeing's advocacy programmes tackling issues such as access and water quality at Parliamentary level.
You will notice a few differences going forward. We now have a number of formal documents outlining what we are about and how we operate (documents can be found in our private Facebook group). We will also hold more formal briefings at our organised group events.
This affiliation has translated our existing ethos and ways of operating into the documents explained above and as such it does not stop you doing what you always have done - enjoying our sport, and sharing your lovely photos and stories on the Group. Please continue to do that in the spirit of our mantra …. Be Kind, Be Careful and Stay Safe.
